"MAY" Movie Review |
|
There
is no MAYbe about this movie, You have to see it. Well, I have to say that my long journey to see this movie was well worth the time, gas and money. After a long drive from Anaheim, Ca. to Fresno, Ca. (after getting lost for 1/2 hour) I was able to see the much talked about movie, "May" starring Angela Bettis, Jeremy Sisto & the Lovely Anna Faris. It is a dark and twisted kinda of movie and if you can't handle a real horrrific and gore movie, you may wanna skip it but I would say to suck it up and go for it. The movie starts right off into the gore that makes this movie so be prepared. After a quick scare, the story begins and shows May as a child and what has happened in here life before the actually timeframe of the movie begins. Once you learn about May as a child, things fall into place and you have a better understand throughout the movie as to what is going through her head, good and bad. She works in the animal hosptial with Polly (Faris) who always seems to be flirting with her which you find out later in the movie that she prefers the company of a woman, not a man. May meet the man of her dreams named Adam (Sisto) and things start of well between the two of them. But when they get close and intimacy gets involved between them two, things take a turn for the worse, especially in May's case. I won't tell you what that make the turn, that you will have to go out and see for yourself. After Adam doesn't return her calls and avoids her at all cost, the line between sane and insane becomes completey a blur. May takes a turn for the worse and the movie turn into one big ol' blodd bath, gorefest, whatever you wanna call it but be prepared and make sure to have a strong stomach ti handle it all. I had a strong stomach but a light head as well, cuz the gore did get to me and I blacked-out after the movie in the lobby for a second or two. At that moment, it was freaky but when I look back at it now, its kinda cool cuz no movie has ever done that to me before and the proves to me that its a one of a kind horror flick you gotta see to believe. If you ever have the chance to see this movie in your area, jump at it cuz that the moment it's still not known if it will get a major feature release, only in limited release. But if not, you will just have to wait until June 6 for it's video debut, according to Fangoria Magazine. Now my review on Anna's character, Polly, in the movie. I have to say that this is a character that was very interesting to watch not only cuz she was a lesbian in the movie, but now Anna brought the character to life. I have never seen Anna in such a more greatful light then here. I believe this character was a bit strange for her to play but on the other hand, she pulls it off extremely great. If you have only seen Anna in "Scary Movie 1& 2" or "The Hot Chick" then you truely haven't seen her in a more of a dramatic role then this one and I will go on record saying that. After driving over 200 miles in 3 1/2 hours to see this movie, and blacking out afterwards, I still will say it was all worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat. |
